    Quadratics

The technique of Completing-the square is explained in this session.

    This is used to convert a quadratic in the form ax2 + bx + c to the completed-the-square form a(x - h)2 + k

This technique is useful for solving certain quadratic equations and also for sketching quadratic curves

The following concepts are discussed, with examples:

         ♦ Completing-the-square formula - How it works

♦ 2 types of Quadratic Curves

♦ Coefficient of x2 term to determine nature of turning point of a quadratic curve

♦ Finding the turning point (h,k) of a curve by completing the square

♦ Sketching the Quadratic Curve, with examples

♦ Finding the coordinates of the intercepts with the coordinate axes

♦ Several examples to demonstrate completing-the square

♦ Past Exam Questions on Completing-the-square and Curve Sketching explained

The exercise file section contains notes and homework
